正确定位体细胞驱动基因突变的时间(之所以称为体细胞驱动基因突变是因为它们“驱动”了癌症的发生和发展)有助于早期发现和干预策略。在《自然》杂志上,Williams等人重建了12例成人型骨髓增生性肿瘤患者的造血系统发育并追踪克隆进化动力学,揭示了这些癌症的初始驱动突变通常发生在儿童时期,包括子宫内。
Pinpointing the timing of somatic driver mutations, so called because they ‘drive’ cancer initiation and progression, could help with early detection and intervention strategies. In Nature, Williams et al. reconstruct haematopoietic phylogenies and track clonal evolutionary dynamics in 12 patients with adult-onset myeloproliferative neoplasms, revealing that initial driver mutations of these cancers often occur during childhood, including in utero.
